The Best Meal Kit Subscription Box. Try a Free Box from EveryPlate.

I’ll be honest.. whenever I first moved out on my own, I didn’t know how to cook.

Of course I knew how to make sandwiches, boxed mac n cheese, and hamburger helper. I also knew how to pop a frozen meal into the oven or microwave, but I wouldn’t consider that “cooking.”

Then I tried to follow the grocery lists and recipes online, but the recipes were complicated to follow, took too long to make, and half the time the ingredients that I bought would be bad by the time I got around to using them. I was spending a lot of time grocery shopping and a lot of money on ingredients that didn’t even end up being used.

Also I was only cooking for two people and half of the recipes online were for families of four so if I did end up making a recipe, I would have leftovers that would unfortunately just go bad.

I started seeing ads for meal kit subscription boxes and decided to try out a few. I tried HelloFresh, EveryPlate, and Dinnerly. HelloFresh recipes were good, but it was way too expensive. I enjoyed Dinnerly especially if I wanted to try something different, but most of the recipes didn’t appeal to me. EveryPlate was the big winner!

EveryPlate has been the most affordable meal kit subscription box that I have found on the market. It averages between $75 – $85 depending on the meals/add-ons that you choose (for five meals for two people).

List of this weeks 5 recipes that I chose from EveryPlate.

The recipes vary every week and you get to choose your recipes and customize them to your liking. You can plan your meals weeks in advance so it saves you time and takes a lot of the guesswork out of cooking. You can also choose your delivery days and skip weeks if you want to switch things up.

The meal kit boxes come with pretty much everything you need.. veggies, protein, rice, pasta, seasonings, cheeses, bread, etc. The only thing you’ll need are a few kitchen staples like butter, salt and pepper, oil, milk, and flour.

All of the ingredients needed for one of this week's EveryPlate recipes. It includes penne pasta, smoked paprika, mushroom stock concentrate, zucchini, garlic powder cream cheese, sour cream, and parmesan cheese.

Each meal comes with nutrition facts, how long the recipe will take you to make, an online recipe, a printed recipe card, and a list of ingredients you will need.

I’m on my 46th EveryPlate meal kit subscription box so you can tell that I’m a big fan. EveryPlate has saved me time, money, and taught me how to actually cook my own meals!
